How the 5-star rating system works:
We consider mass-market, middle-shelf vodkas such as Stolichnaya and Smirnoff to be the bar by which all others are measured. Since many are better and many are worse, these are considered 3-Stars. If a vodka is a worse, it gets two stars; better and it gets 4 stars. Sadly, we occasionally run into a vodka that should never have been produced. These exceptionally poor offereings merely get one star. If a vodka is in the Top 10, or ranks among the best we've ever had, it earns 5-stars.

Before it makes the Top 10 list or a 5-star rating, a vodka will be taste tested at least three times. Once on the rocks, once chilled and non-diluted, and once room temperature.
